The Three Little Pigs

hard workperseverancewisdomclassic tale

Once upon a time, there were three little pigs who lived with their mother. One day, their mother said, "You are all grown up now. It's time for you to go out into the world and build your own homes."

So the three little pigs set off down the road, each one going their own way.

The first little pig was lazy and wanted to play. He quickly built his house out of straw. "This will do just fine!" he said, and spent the rest of the day dancing and singing.

The second little pig worked a little harder. He built his house out of sticks. "This is good enough!" he said, and went off to play with his brother.

The third little pig was the wisest. He worked hard all day, building his house out of strong bricks. "I want my house to be safe and sturdy," he said.

One evening, a big bad wolf came to the straw house. "Little pig, little pig, let me come in!" he growled.

"Not by the hair on my chinny chin chin!" cried the first little pig.

"Then I'll huff, and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house down!" said the wolf.

And he huffed, and he puffed, and he blew the straw house down! The first little pig ran as fast as he could to his brother's stick house.

The wolf followed and called out, "Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in!"

"Not by the hair on our chinny chin chins!" cried the two little pigs.

"Then I'll huff, and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house down!"

And he huffed, and he puffed, and he blew the stick house down! The two little pigs ran to their brother's brick house.

The wolf followed once more. "Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in!"

"Not by the hair on our chinny chin chins!"

The wolf huffed and puffed with all his might, but the brick house stood strong. He huffed and puffed again and again, but the house would not fall down.

The wolf climbed onto the roof, planning to come down the chimney. But the clever third pig had a pot of hot water boiling in the fireplace. When the wolf slid down, he landed in the pot with a big SPLASH!

"OWWW!" howled the wolf, and he ran away into the forest, never to bother the three little pigs again.

From that day on, the three little pigs lived happily together in the strong brick house. And they all learned an important lesson: hard work and doing things right is always worth the effort.
